FINANCIAL ANALYST

We are seeking a bright and motivated Financial Analyst who will be primarily responsible for providing functional and technical leadership to the Finance Department by collaborating with Finance, IT, internal and external entities to streamline the daily transaction processing, monthly closing process and management reporting.  This includes analyzing daily, monthly and annual accounting activities to enhance controls and streamline operations.  This position is responsible for translating business needs into functional IT requirements by recognizing opportunities to improve processes and effectively redesign processes and systems to increase efficiencies and enhance internal controls. The Financial Analyst Assists the Controller in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the finance department and facilitates effective workflow, within the department which includes, coordination of the month-end and year-end closings, ensuring that appropriate journal entries are recorded and all accounts are properly reconciled.  Independently identifying areas where additional analysis is needed and performs research to resolve issues.  Develops, prepares, and analyzes financial reporting and identifies and resolves inconsistencies.  Develops the annual budget package with the controller and the CFO. Also in concert with the Controller, this position establishes the policies, procedures and controls for the finance department and monitors employee compliance.  Develops and performs reviews and control checks to ensure data integrity and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Government Accounting Standards. 

The Financial Analyst position requires a high level of initiative and proven ability to redesign processes and systems, and develop alternative solutions to complex tasks.  The ideal candidate will have strong technical, analytic, and problem solving skills. Strong organizational skills to keep track of multiple priorities of highly detailed information. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are also a must, to positively interact with a variety of levels of staff and external partners.

Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting and a minimum of five years of progressive experience. Work experience in not-for-profit or insurance accounting highly desirable.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP2018 accounting software is highly desirable along with expertise in Microsoft Office products.
